I valued “Andy’” highly and shall miss his smile and friendship. He was a great story teller.
I also wish to convey my recollection of Andy’s visit to Denmark in 2015:
Together with other surviving members of the crew Andy went to the memorial cemetery of Freedom Fighters on Liberation day which coincidentally is also Andy’s birthday. In a separate tent the Queen of Denmark received a few RAF crew, and when Andy came out after the reception he said to me: ‘This was the first and only time in my life when I was congratulated by a Queen on my very birthday!'
I hope the funeral will become memorable.
